St. Patrick's Day!

We are in the top ten! Last week the top ten happiest states were published and we are proud to say that Utah ranked at number eight. States were graded on six factors of well-being: life evaluation, emotional health, work environment, physical health, healthy behavior, and access to basic necessities. Perhaps next year we can break the top five!

Winter Will End!

Unemployment fell again in February from 9% to 8.9%, that's nearly a full percentage point in the last three months, which is the fastest improvement shown in almost 28 years. Large and small businesses are hiring, which is a good indication that the market is on the up and up.

For positive news this week, we turned to BYU Basketball! BYU jumped from number 7 to number 3 in both the Associated Press and USA Today/ESPN polls. Jimmer Fredette is also a finalist for the 2011 Oscar Robertson Trophy. Congratulations to the Cougars!

Consumer Confidence!

This February, the Consumer Confidence Index rose to 70.4, the highest it has been since February 2008! More Americans are feeling positive about where the economy is headed. These, along with unemployment falling steadily since December, are great indicators for the economic outlook.

A day worth remembering and reflecting upon, the December 7, 1941 attack on the United States naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii was the key that unlocked the door of American isolationism during World War II. The following day the United States declared war on Japan, marking its official entry into the war that changed the world.
