According to a Forbes magazine article,  Salt Lake City and the Provo-Orem area were among the best cities for job growth. Salt Lake was named No. 3 for “Best Big Cities for Jobs for 2013" and the Provo – Orem area was named second for “Best Mid-size Cities for Jobs 2013”.

Utah Named #1 Friendliest State for Small Business
Thumbtack.com, in partnership with the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, released the results from their Small Business Survey. The 2013 study shows that Utah has risen from a #4 ranking in 2012 to take the top spot as the Friendliest State for Small Businesses for this year.

Construction Job Growth Hits 7 year High
Job Growth in the construction industry soared to a seven year high during the first quarter of this year.  In a further sign of recovery,  jobs in residential construction have increased by 317,000 over the past two years,  a rate outpacing overall economic growth.   Utah Named Fourth Happiest State

Gallup, a company that provides data-driven news based on U.S. and world polls, daily tracking  and public opinion research, released a recent poll that named the five happiest and the five most miserable states. Utah was named fourth happiest. The four other happiest states were; Vermont, Minnesota, Colorado, and Hawaii.

Commercial Real Estate Outlook is Bright
The Salt Lake City-based Cushman & Wakefield Commerce, a commercial real estate and consulting firm, released last week its annual review of commercial real estate transactions in Utah’s biggest counties. They stated that “the overall level of activity suggests that the industry is returning to normal long-term performance levels” and that 2013 will be a great year. Provo and Salt Lake Named Two of the Fastest Growing Cities

2012 US Home Sales Highest in 5 Years
Sales of previously occupied homes rose nationwide in 2012 to the highest level in five years. Total sales reached 4.65 million units, and economists predict that sales will continue to rise in 2013.
